newly added rows (via automation) take color of last existing row

Question

I have a SS where I use colors on the rows to designate its status.   We've just started integrating another SS where that "source" SS sends rows over to my "target" sheet via automation, and when they arrive on my target sheet  those new rows are taking the color of the last pre-existing row on the target.  How do we stop that from happening?

Similarly, there is a column in the target sheet that is not in the source sheet, and as new rows come to the target from the source, that column fills in with the contents of that column in the last existing row of the target.

Thank you!  There was a formula in that one cell (which is not normal for that column), so that explains that.  I'll also look into using conditional formatting.

When Smartsheet adds a new row (via automation, copy/move, or form submission), it uses the last existing row as a template for:

* Row color / formatting
* Certain column defaults (if no value is provided)

This is by design, not a bug.

Instead of manually coloring rows:

* Remove manual row coloring
* Create Conditional Formatting rules based on your Status column* Example:* Status = “Complete” → Green
* Status = “In Progress” → Yellow
* Status = “Blocked” → Red

Regarding the color, in the source sheet, you may want to change the current manual color formating to auto conditional formating. This will stop color copying from the source sheet to the target sheet.

Regarding the column content in the target sheet, is there  a current cell formula in that column?  If so, Smartsheet will automatically copy the formula from the last existing row to the newly added rows. That's a normal behaviour.
