Is there a way to lockt a parent row so that the child rows stay collapsed underneath

I have a sheet that is shared by many users, needless to stay can get messy when this many people in a sheet, saving, adding statuses, etc. and no we cannot use table view at this time, it doesn't work for this sheet.

In this sheet I have "pending orders" which are only relevant to me, as orders come in they become active lines for designers, so I would like to leave this collapsed always, but every time I open the sheet, it's no longer collapsed. It's so frustrating as these have 100's of items underneath but won't stay collapsed unless I manually collapse them. Any advice??

Not as such, no. But there are solutions:

• Collapse the parent rows and save the sheet.
  • Everyone will initially see the sheet in that state until someone expands and saves it.
• Lock the child rows to prevent editing.
  • This does not prevent users from expanding them.
• Use a Report that only pulls parent rows from the sheet.
  • ie if you want stakeholders to see summary-level information.

A report showing only parent rows is usually the cleanest solution.
