Webhook Updating Incorrect ID in Smartsheet After Initial Correct Update

Hi Team,

We are facing an issue with the webhook integration between Smartsheet and the external system.

The webhook triggers successfully and sends data to the external system. The external system then returns an ID, which is expected to update the corresponding row in Smartsheet. However, we are noticing that an incorrect ID is ultimately being updated in the sheet.

From the cell history, we can see that:

• The correct ID was initially updated successfully.
• Shortly afterward, the value was overwritten with an incorrect ID.

Recently, we created and enabled a new webhook because the previous webhook had been disabled. We would like to understand if the new webhook setup, duplicate triggers, retry mechanisms, or any webhook overlap could be causing this behavior.

The overwrite is the clue I’d start with.

If the correct ID lands first and then changes shortly after, I’d look for a second write happening after the first successful update — possibly a duplicate webhook/listener, retry, or row-matching issue.

Cell history shows what happened, but the payload and update logs will show why.
