I would love to see WorkApps evolve into a true application-building platform rather than primarily serving as a container for Sheets, Reports, Dashboards, and Dynamic Views.
Today, users interact directly with underlying Smartsheet assets, but many business users expect an app-like experience. It would be great if administrators could design custom screens and user journeys without exposing the actual sheet structure.
For example, I should be able to create a form-like interface where users first enter basic information such as Employee Name, Employee ID, and Date. Once those fields are completed, additional sections would appear dynamically below, creating a guided workflow experience.
I would also like the ability to design how each screen or tab looks, define how data flows into the destination sheet, and control the user interface independently from the backend sheet structure. Similar to Document Builder, where fields are mapped visually, WorkApps could provide a reverse experience where administrators design the front end and map inputs to sheet columns behind the scenes.
Another valuable enhancement would be support for multi-row data entry. For example, in a purchasing request, users may enter common information once (Employee Name, Employee ID, Request Date) and then add multiple product rows containing Product Name, Quantity, and Cost. Upon submission, the common information would automatically populate across all created rows while product-specific details remain unique to each row.
These enhancements would make WorkApps feel more like a modern business application, reduce repetitive data entry, improve user adoption, and create a much more intuitive experience for end users.
