Some people build solutions, and then they build communities around them. Our June Member Spotlight @Amy Munro is one of those people. In under two years, she's gone from brand-new Smartsheet user to System Administrator, Product Advisory Council member, and one of the biggest advocates for growing the user base down under. Grab a coffee (or a flat white) and get to know her Smartsheet story.
Amy is the Manager Enterprise PMO at the Parliament of New South Wales, and lives in Sydney, Australia. She first met Smartsheet about 18 months ago when she changed jobs, and the pace hasn't let up since. A year ago, she stepped into a System Administrator role, supporting her organization's portfolio of construction and digital projects. One of the very first things she did was rethink how their data was structured. "I wanted reporting to tell a clearer story for executives, not just present data," she says. “That redesign became the foundation for everything that followed.”
From there, Amy leaned all the way into the community, both on platform and off. She focused on connecting with other Australian Government users, joined the Community here, and attended Sydney user groups and virtual sessions. The more she learned, the more ideas she carried back to her internal partners. This year alone, she has joined the Australia and New Zealand Product Advisory Council and spoke on a PMO panel at the Smartsheet Sydney Summit 2026. "It was a fantastic experience, and I made so many valuable connections," she says.
Ask Amy about her favorite feature and her answer might surprise you: It's the training.
"It might not sound like a 'feature,' but the Learn to Build in Smartsheet and Builder Certification has had the biggest impact on how I work and for people in my organization," she says. "It is free, practical, and a great way to unlock the full potential of Smartsheet. I enjoy sharing what I build. Whether it is a workflow, a report, or a design approach, if it helps someone else on their Smartsheet journey, that is a win."
What's kept her coming back to the Community? The people.
"I have connected with individuals from around the world that I never would have met in my day-to-day work, and there is always something new to learn from them. You can post a question, and within a short time people are jumping in to help, share ideas, or offer a different perspective."
Amy is especially passionate about growing the Smartsheet community locally, encouraging more Australians to join, get active, and share what they're working on. At the Sydney Summit, she did exactly that by championing the Community from the stage and nudging others to dive into everything from AI to sharing their own use cases.
Looking ahead, Amy is working toward her Smartsheet Professional and Architect certifications (she's finished all the training and is now building out her portfolio of evidence). Automation is a big focus too. "The more we can automate routine processes, the more time we create to focus on building better solutions, improving data quality, and developing dashboards that truly support decision making," she says.
When she's not building, Amy is soaking up life in the heart of Sydney, where she has a pretty unbeatable view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. She and her husband are on a delicious mission to try as many of Sydney's incredible fine dining spots as they can. And at home, board games reign supreme. Her two kids, Fallon and Brayden, are "regularly encouraged" to join in whether they’re enthused about it or not.
Thank you Amy for all you do, and for helping our Community grow stronger across the globe!
