Does Smartsheet have an audible notification feature?  For example, if I have the smartsheet open, yet minimized on my computer, and someone makes an entry, is there a “ding” sound that would tell me that an entry was made?  Or if I have smartsheet open on my phone, and an entry was made, would my phone make a “ding” sound? Is there a setting somewhere for it that I am not finding?

Hi Anelise,

Yes, you can create notifications on sheets to notify you or members of your team when something you care about happens. For example: a new row is added, or a task is assigned to someone. To set up a notification rule on a sheet, click the "Alerts & Actions" tab at the bottom of the sheet. You can check out this support article if you need additional assistance.

If you download Smartsheet for iOS or Android, these notifications will show up on your phone according to your phone's notification settings.

Now, how do I make the computer desktop sound a "ding" whenever a new row is added? I don't want to send an email every time. I'm looking for a setting in the desktop version of Smartsheet that turns on the sound for Smartsheet notifications.

Hi Anelise,

We don't currently have audible or pop-up alerts on the desktop, but it is something we are considering as a future enhancement.Thanks for letting us know you would want this. 

In the meantime, we are looking into adding a visual indication to the Smartsheet browser tab icon if there are new notifications.

Did you ended up adding the audible alarm/indication tab on? 

I am operating smartsheet as a desktop log for a common floor so I'd like people to receive an audible.

Hi Nigel,

No. I haven't found a way to configure the "ding" on the computer yet. 

Smartsheet has since added the in-app notifications. So, if you are logged into the Smartsheet and have the configuration setup to be notified, and have a rule configure to notify you, then you'll see a number on the upper right corner.

However, there is no sound yet, as far as I know.

The third-party service, Zapier could maybe be an excellent solution for this scenario. Is that an option for you?
