Use custom template via the "create new / +" button

Is there no way to use a custom template via the "Create New / +" button on the tab bar instead of going to Home and selecting it over there?

Hi, if I add a new row above an existing row which has a predecessor, does Smartsheet automatically update the predecessor number ?
