I like the balls but want to change the text that shows up in the card layout from "Green" to "Done", Yellow" to "Hold" and "Red" to "Issue"

  • Hello Burto,

There currently isn't a way to change the text associated with a symbol. When you have a moment, please submit a Product Enhancement Request using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site.

One potential workaround you might consider is adding a dropdown list column to your sheet with your custom text values. You can then create a nested IF statement that will automatically change the dropdown list column value based on the symbol value.

    For example:

    =IF([Symbol]1 = "Green", "Done", IF([Symbol]1 = "Yellow", "Hold"))

You'll want to change the cell reference in my example formula to the column name in your sheet.

  • Afternoon,

Wondered if this has been worked on yet...

I believe having the traffic lights / RYG balls and been able to edit the associated text would be an invaluable thing for many...

Often I have many users using:-

    Green as a positive/ yes

    Amber - In progress

Red as a negative / no

However upper management and directors with the amber saying hold, but likes the visual of them....

Smartsheet it would be much appreciated if you can add this feature 🙏

Will second this request. The visual symbols with smiley faces should not just reflect pain, but also satisfaction levels. This should be customizable if possible. Maybe allow custom text for visual symbols in the forms at a minimum.

Smartsheet it would be much appreciated if you can add this feature - I have found that all Smartsheet is responsive to is raising the price, The cost is getting ridiculous. Guess they forgot there are a tons of other options out there. Very disappointed.

  • Hey @Skotty

Please feel free to add your vote and comment to the Product Idea around extra symbols:

    Cheers,
