A few questions about new Charts function

Very pleased to see the new charts function in the dashboard section.  A couple of questions have already come up for me.

  1. Can the scale of the axis be manipulated?  A chart that I added is demonstrating the % done of certain steps in an HR process.  The scale of the Y axis is set at 200%
  2. In a similar example, I tried to make a chart out of the % done from parent rows in a project sheet.  I copied the parent cells into a contiguous chart in another sheet.  When adding the data in the Edit Chart Widget, the display shows Invalid Data, To create a chart you must use numeric data.  To confirm, these are live percentages that update with the data in the sheet and not alpha text

Any help appreciated

    Randy,

Thanks for your feedback.  Here are answers to your questions:

    1. The scale is auto generated.  We will consider your suggestion in custom configuration in future versions.

    2. On your second step in Edit Chart Widget, you may want to check your data selection.  When the "invalid data" is presented, it's most likely due to the selection only having included labels/text.  A screen capture of your range will also help us provide more assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Sasan

Here is the targeted information.  The primary column and Column 2.

    Randy,

A picture is a 1000 words.  In looking at your Column2 content formatting, I noticed that your %s are left justified.  That was a clue, that your Column2 properties may be of Contact List, etc.  At this time the chart widget only supports the following column types:

    • Text/Number (obviously numbers only)
    • Dropdown List (numbers only, excluding strings that look like numbers)
    • Auto-Number/System-generated column (numbers with no Prefix or Suffix)
    • Symbols (replaced with numbers)

The column property could be the cause.  Let's try changing your Column2 properties to one of the above and try creating chart.  Let us know if that works.

    Thanks

    Sasan

    Randy,

We just updated the charts widget to reduce the excessive padding on scale for % data values.  The padding is now optimized.  Hope this helps.  Thanks
