Can you reference a task resource?

Hi, Im a new user so go easy on me...!  I have built a project plan template that assigns each task to a  particular role. At the top of the smartsheet I have a section where we can enter the name of the person for that role that will be working on the project and this then populates individual names (rather than roles) against this task. However, doing it this way means that I am not using a contact list.

Is there any way of doing the same thing using a contact list ie so that I only need to enter the persons name at the top of the smartsheet for each role and it will populate the relevant names down the project plan?

If it is not possible, is there any way of building a report using a combination of both "or" and "and" in the "What" field?  Currently I seem to be only able to do one or the other. I am trying to create reports for teams showing what tasks are due but given I cannot use the "Who" to list the team, I can only use the "What". And then i run into needing to use "and" as well as "or".

There currently isn't a way to automatically populate names down a Contact list column. When you have a moment please submit a Product Enhancement Request using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site and let our Product team know that you'd like to see this added to Smartsheet.

My recommendation would be to get into the habit of manually adding contacts as needed, as reports can't combine the "and" with the "or" operators. One thing that you can do to speed up the process of adding contacts is to define your preferred contacts so they are the first to autosuggest in the column. Some people will even create multiple contact columns per department to have a different set of preferred contacts per department.
