Can we set up our smartsheet to send email alerts to the team when a task has been completed?

Yes you can. You click on the Alert tab at the bottom of your sheet, select which shared users will receive the alert and select what changes can trigger the alert. For example, if a task has a status of "Pending" and someone changes it to "Completed" you could have an alert setup to trigger the notification email.
