Enable Form text entry when Dropdown List is not restricted

When a column is a Dropdown List, one can choose whether or not to "Restrict to dropdown values only," however, when a Dropdown List column is used in a Form, only the dropdown values can be selected.  Please update the Form functionality to allow free text entry if a dropdown value is not selected.

Completely agree. Even if the restrict to drop down values is not ticked there is no way to add a new value.

Its really annoying, one of my uses for smartsheet is tracking expenses and I have a vendor drop down list. Buy a coffee from a cafe and of course the vendor is not on the list.

To get around this I have now started using Google forms when I need to, (integrates with smartsheet) as adding text which is not on the dropdown list is an option. Shame as adding this function to the SS form cannot surely be that difficult.

If you're reading this Smartsheet please also fix the form field widths. Having a field for price which stretches the width of the form frankly looks plain daft.

Agreed. If the user had the option to add a custom value it would allow for much better data collection.

Yes, please allow form entry of values that are not in an unrestricted drop down column.  Also please provide a way to change form field widths from the defaults.

You know, the odd thing is that when I fill in the form from an i-Phone or i-Pad, it WILL allow the free text entry, it only restricts it when I try to fill out the form from a computer

This product is proving less and less valuable to our organization. There are simply too many things that were not considered during the development. This glaringly apparent missing functionality and its subsequent ignoring by SS higher-ups for over a year and a half is further proof that we may look elsewhere. Dismal.

Ok, discovered this today and frankly expected this to be a normal behavior. Looks like a long time in the enhancement request. Using this product in a public safety need... annoying that it is not fixed and has this long history.
