Get a list value from another sheet

Hi Jonathan,
Do you need to match the driver name from the first sheet to any criteria on the second sheet? I'm assuming it's not just a straight-up list of drivers but a list that matches something like an ID or location to the corresponding record on the first sheet.
The short answer is yes, it's probably possible to do what you want. But it might be easier to post a snippet or screencap of what you're after to ensure we're both on the same page.
Kin regards,

Hi Chris,
Please look at the attachment. I have Drivers sheet includes driver information with name and telephone. And I have a booking sheet which also contains driver name and telephone. The problem is I want the "Driver Name" column in the booking sheet get the value from the drivers sheet. Whenever I have a new driver or remove a driver, I just need to edit the Drivers sheet.

Hi Jonathan,
How do you want the Booking sheet to determine what value should go into the Driver Name column?
Did you want a dropdown with all the names from Drivers sheet? If so, this is not possible as dropdown values need to be specified within the column settings and cannot be drawn from other data.
Kind regards,
Chris McKay

Hi Chris,
That's exactly what I want. Getting names from Drivers sheet. I saw in another thread that this function will be developed. Do you know when we can have that function in smartsheet?

Hi Jonathan,
Unfortunately no I don't. Only the Smartsheet Product Team will be able to answer that.

Hi Chris,
As this is a very important feature for many clients including my company, please find out when this will be implemented.
Best regards

+1 for this please. I'm trying to make a change request form where a change must be associated with an existing project, listed in another sheet. It's frustrating that this is not possible.

The ability to populate a field's allowable values from another sheet is something that is now becoming mission critical for us. This lack of functionality that has been planned now for over a year is something that may cause us to look at other solutions.

I am new to smartsheet but feature of automatically populating drop-down list content from another sheet is very important as we will not be able to update in every sheet the value and hence updating it at one place could be able to add or remove the value from the list is must.

A solution that would be perfect for this use-case is the premium add-on, Data Uploader. Is that an option?

I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!

Hi Chris (and all community),
Looping back into this conversation. Not sure if this has been resolved somewhere else, but I'm looking for a way to list all values from a reference sheet into a new sheet, based on a column filter. Very similar to what a Report does, but dropping all results into a sheet that I can edit and work on. List all values, maybe sort alphabetically or sort by a different column filter.
For example: List all Engagement Names from reference sheet when Column A = Epic
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I finally out of desperation made the solution 😄
To solve this, I developed a solution that allows dropdowns to auto-populate based on a column from another sheet, making it easier to manage dynamic lists like employee names without the need for premium tools. You can see how it works in the demo video below:
I'm here to help if you have any questions or need further assistance.
