How to setup an "If" with dates involved?

Try something like this. (and convert it to a column formula)

=IF([Approved Ship Date to XT00]@row <> [Ship Date to XT00]@row, 1, 0)

You definitely want to make it a column formula. Paste it into the first cell on the column and then right-click and choose "convert to column formula".
