Picture upload - resize

Hi,

Is it possible to resize photos during upload? Nowadays smartphones has larger picture's mpx which means that file weighs more and more, which is reflected in uploading time.

I have a sheet where users has to audit some areas on daily basis and take pictures of all nonconformities. Lowest pic has over 6 mpx and upload lasts about 15 seconds of just standing there and waiting instead of going further.

I would be extremely happy if smartsheet would offer resize before upload.

Unfortunately, it's not possible in Smartsheet, but you could maybe lower the resolution on the phone.

That's the problem. I can't go lower than 6 mpx which is still too much in terms of loading time.

Ok. Only other way I can think of would be to take the picture offline and reduce the size and then upload to Smartsheet. It could probably be automated for the most part.

Hi Marcin,

Did you find a solution? One possible solution could be to use a scanner app that changes the picture to a pdf or possibly a picture with lower resolution. 

Would that work?

No I did not. 

Lowering of the picture resolution doesn't give me any way to go below 6 mpx, which is too heavy anyway.

Scanning app could be great, but it recognizes barcodes automatically and (at least in android app) there is no button to take a photo manually. It shots only when finds barcode.

But...

I made separate app in AppSheet which allows me to fill up smartsheet automatically and it has upload in background, so this would be solution as long as we'd like to use separate software, but in our case it's not acceptable unfortunately.

Yes, AppSheet is excellent. When you say that separate software isn't acceptable, does that include another app to take the picture on android?

It basically means that we don't want to work in Smartsheet and switch to other systems just to take some pics, but if you'd have any ideas you'd like to share, I am 100% open, because if not here, maybe I'll be able to use it somewhere else , so I'd be very grateful for that!
