Working with Symbol Formulas
Comments
-
I am trying to do a formula to populate a date based on a symbol. So for instance if the star is empty, take Date 1 and add two years =date+730, but if the star is checked on, add 365.
How do I go about doing this?
-
=IF([Insert star column name]@row = 1, [date column name]@row+365, [date column name]@row +730

I'd like to have a red flag appear in the [PO Here Flag] column when the [Quote Type] is PO Here.
I've never programmed before...thought this is a good time to start learning...
-
I hope you're well and safe!
Try something like this.
=IF([Quote Type]@row = "PO Here", 1)
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend & Happy New Year!

@Paul Newcome Trying to count number of projects on hold at a certain stage. I have the count by stage but keep getting errors when trying to add that the column must be flagged as "on hold". Any ideas?
-
I found a work around, probably not the best way but it produced the result I was looking for. I created a new column on the source sheet to count the symbol and then used the following formula to count the ref sheet.
-
Question, this is a really good thread however, how do you create the header level progress bar abd % complete for that matter?
-
I'm sure the Community would be happy to help you if we had more information! I'd suggest posting this as a new Question in the "Formulas and Functions" are of the Community, including screen captures of your sheet and a detailed list of exactly what you want to appear and the criteria of when it should appear.
Cheers,
Genevieve

I have formulas that successfully result in "yes", "hold", or "no", but the symbol column is just displaying text, and not the symbols. Please advise.
* yes the symbols selected are yes/hold/no
** if I delete a formula and type "yes", "hold", or "no" in the cell it displays the appropriate symbol
*** even if the formula is as basic as ="yes" the symbol does not display
-
Hey @CAS the CSA
Symbols are case-sensitive, so your "yes", "hold", and "no" would need to start with capitals:
My top cell is:
="Yes"
My second cell is:
="yes"
Let me know if this now works for you!
Cheers,
Genevieve
