Alerts & Reminders for "Assigned to"

Can you send reminders for upcoming due tasks to someone that is "Assigned to" a task?  Currently I just send the automated reminders to shared users but, recently I had the need to just send particular tasks to selected individuals that would not be interested in the majority of the other tasks.  I am thinking the answer is yes but, not certain.

Yes. You can select using the dropdown box when creating the alert/reminder/update request. See the screenshots below.

If you're using the reminder option to remind people based on a date... you can also scroll down to the bottom of the To: list and select the column with the assignee(s). As well as choose how much time in advance that item should go out. See my screenshot. In addition to this I like to put a reminder date column in with an if statement to not send the reminder if a project is complete... 

In a date column I call reminder date I put this formula... =IF(status@row = "complete", "complete", [Due Date]@row)

Then I build my reminder around that new column. If the status is marked as complete there will be no date to fire the reminder. IF its not complete then the due date row will be there.
