Update Request single use link
Does anyone know if there is a way to allow a recipient of a "Send update request" to use the same link more htan once to update a particular row?
An installation within my organization is a single day event but can span the entire day. I may need multiple check-ins from my field tech.
Today, I send an update request to my field tech and when he replies that he's "on site" the link is no longer valid and I have to creat a new "send update request" for the same task on the same day.
I know I can create and schedule mutliple requests for a time and date (e.g. on 12/17 @ 9am, 12pm and 3pm) but this is highly inefficient to create for hundreds of installations that I'm tracking.
If the request could be set to expire after a certain time as opposed a single use this would enable mutlpie updates to be made throughout the day without the need to set up multiple requests. There is a built in cell history so changes would still be versioned (while not a reportable field) I still have the abitlity to see if there were mutliple changes. Additionally, I get an email when an update request is exectued so I would have the email history of the changes too. so revision control is not really a concern.
Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric, update requests only work once as you have found. If you need your team to update data in the field, I would recommend they use our Android or iOS mobile apps which will enable them to update their data from anywhere they have service on almost any Android or iOS device. You can then set up notifications to email you as soon as they make changes.

Hi Travis,
thanks for the feedback.
One note, the issue is not about how my field team is accessing smartsheet (app vs. emailed link). It's about the need to recieve several updates for one row of information in a single day and having to setup several "send update request" notices for this feedback.
Sharing the entire sheet with 30+ field techs spanning the country opens up too many opportunities for the wrong line to get updated. Sending the specific row request mitigates this risk by providing the tech with the specific details I want updates on. I'm just looking for a more efficient way to make these requests without having to create two or more requests for the same row on the same day.
Thanks,
Eric

Thanks for following up. Have you considered using reports? You could create a report for each field tech that shows only the rows (or row) that they need to update. They can access the report through the mobile app and update the rows as needed.
This would required a little bit of time for the initial set up but once it is built it could be self updating. For example you could set reports to only show rows assigned to the tech and that are open. The report will automatically update as the sheet updates (add and remove rows based on your criteria).
