Hi

Are there any plans to introduce documents alongside sheets in Smartsheet? (like Google Docs and Google Sheets in Google, and Word and Excel in Microsoft)

Thanks

Cheers

Richard

    Hi Andree

Like a Google Doc, Microsoft Word document, Wiki document in Microsoft Teams, Page in Samepage and Document in Quip.

    Thanks

    Cheers

    Ok.

Not sure if this is what you're after, but you could connect Smartsheet to Google Docs with the Smartsheet Merge integration. I've built solutions for clients that use it to send payment information or similar.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Andree

I was more after a closer integration, so that the docs can sit within the Smartsheet folder structure. I would imagine that one would go to 'create' and be faced with the options of 'sheet', 'report', 'dashboard' and 'document'. And then obviously have the functionality of linking / embedding sheets/reports in the document, as well as full editing functionality. Also, to add the functionality of some of the features of Samepage and Quip like pulling in data from other Apps, like drawing apps, and working out a way it could work with tasks and calendars, etc.

I suppose this is similar to a dashboard, but as a free type page with live sharing/commenting on,

Can I expect a reply from a Smartsheet representative with a view as to whether this is something in the current roadmap or something they would consider for the future. It has quite a bearing on how much further I move forward with Smartsheet or whether i need to look elsewhere for that functionality.

    Thanks

    Happy to help!

Ok, I see. Unfortunately, you can't expect an answer about the future roadmap because it's not public anymore.

My best advice would be to send in an Enhancement Request.

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

They recently acquired Slope, and I can see exciting features coming in the future.

Hope that helps with your decision to stay with Smartsheet.

    Have a fantastic week!

    Andrée

    Thanks Andree

Slope looks really interesting... Let's hope its integrated into the main App rather than as an Add-On like their existing really useful Calendar, Dynamic Views and Pivot Table Add-Ons that the small team/business user can't afford! :)

    Thanks

  • Richard,

Thanks for bringing this up. Some kind of wiki type experience like Dropbox Paper or Notion would be ideal.

The user experience you described is also perfect. If I could add a "Page" to a project that could include both markdown type note taking alongside data linking from a sheet, that would be the absolute best case scenario.

A dashboard does a lot to increase visibility at a high level, but at a granular level, not all information is best captured in a spreadsheet. Having the ability to have both sheets and pages in the same interface allows for much more work to be done directly in smartsheet.
