Feature request: copy a "column" (column name, formatting, configuration, etc) from one sheet to mul
Feature request: If I create a column with a specific name, configuration, formatting, etc - it would be nice to be able to copy that column over to another sheet - or better yet, to multiple sheets.
Or - an ability to "link" multiple sheets together, based on a specific template, and if you make a change to the "template master", (add a column, change a column from "symbols" to "dropdown list", or something like that), you can apply that "change" to all the "linked" sheets.
Would be very helpful in keeping multiple in sync as far as column config goes...

Great idea Michael! I will add these to our enhancement request list.
While this will not be exactly what you are looking for, you can copy columns from one sheet to another. When you move or copy a row from one sheet to another (right click on the row number and select Move/Copy row to Another Sheet), any column that exists in the source sheet but not the destination sheet, will be added to the destination sheet. Just delete the extra columns and row data after the action.

+1 vote for me on the copy column.
While we're at it, why not have format painter that can apply to whole rows or columns??
-
Brad, to apply a format to the entire row or column, single left click on the row number or column header, which will select the entire row or column. Once selected, select the desired format. This format will be applied to any new rows or columns added to the sheet.

Add my vote...Specifically to be able to "link Columns" so that one master column can populate a duplicate column in other sheets. Reports are great, but my we'd love to be able to edit inside a report.

Thanks for the feedback, Brad! I have added your vote.

+1 Vote from me too. We have over 70 Project sheets with the same set of columns and we have decided that it would be good for our reporting to have an additional column inserted.
If it was possible to do it once then select the sheets we want to copy it over to, it would make life a lot easier than going through the same steps over and over to add identical columns to each sheet.

Thanks for this feedback, Luisa! I've logged your vote for this.

Would love to see all of the above. As we get into setting up our Project Template it would be nice when you improve the template that the changes are automaticaaly added to all children of that template. Also being able to copy a column just seems so easy as opposed to copying a row and deleting what you don't want aftetwards.

Travis' note about you can copy a row over to another sheet and it will create the new columns in the sheet you copied too did not work for me. No change...?
-
Disregard my last observation. It just puts them to the far right so you have to scroll over to find them then move them to where you want them.

+1 for copy columns and for linked templates
great ideas!
-
+ 1 for me for the copy column function and for the template/child link function.

Did this ever get added to Smartsheet? Or at least a simple copy and paste (insert) entire column into another sheet, including heading?
