Using smartsheets as a CRM
Hi everyone,
In Smartsheets, I am trying to create a contact data base with a status trigger from a drop down menu... when "Lead Status" changes from "Lead" to "Opportunity" it triggers a bunch of actions I have set up through Zapier to set up the next steps, files, folders, etc. in Smartsheets and GSuite.
Does anyone know if there is a way in Smartsheets to trigger some next actions (either in smarthsheets or 3rd party app through Zapier) once the value of a single cell or column is changed? I only see this possible when a row is changed, but I do not want the actions to trigger if ANYTHING in the row is changed... just in a specific column
Thanks!

Hi Davyn,
Yes, it is! You can set it up with Zapier and in Smartsheet with conditions. The best method depends on what you want to happen.
Can you describe your process in more detail?
Would that work?
Have a fantastic week!

Hi Andree,
Thank you for taking the time to reply!
I want to trigger actions in smartsheets and other apps through changing the status of the lead in the status column.
When the status is changed to "Opportunity won" then:
1) A workspace is created for that contact
2) A template to do list is copied to the workspace
3) A Google Doc is copied from a template and attached to a row in the to do list (the to do list has a whole bunch of items that will be automated).
4) Some templated emails are sent out.
5) Folders in Google Drive are created for the contact
This is just an example of what I would like to do. My challenge is triggering these actions from changing the status of the row. I can trigger it from changing status in Insightly, but haven't been able to figure it out in smartsheets unless it triggers based on a change in the row which I don't want to do.
Cheers!

Hi Andree,
Ok I think I figured it out through adding a filter in Zapier. This now allows me to select the Status column and specify the trigger.

Excellent!
Happy to help!
To add to the condition/filter, you can also add Paths (Conditional Logic) in Zapier and multi-step Zaps so one Zap can trigger multiple things. It sounds like that is what you want to do.
Best,
Andrée
