I need to have current user view works on a dashboard report widget. May I know if it can be done by Dynamic View? I need to restrict user's view on the dashboard depending on who the user is and not sure if Dynamic View is a solution or not. Thank you!
Hi Peggy,
Unfortunately, it's not possible with Dynamic View at the moment, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
How would you like to restrict the view on the Dashboard?
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.
Have a fantastic day!

Hi Andree,
Thanks for your reply! We created a master sheet to collect issues and a report sourced from a sheet summarize how many issues are logged by country. This issue log summary report is added to dashboard as report widget. We need each user only see the summary for their country(s) and not the others. I have attached a sample of the said report widget. Thank you and have a nice day!
Happy to help!
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to have a report change what it shows in a dashboard dynamically for the current user, but it's a great idea!
As a possible workaround, you might use a link to the report instead. When it's opened, it will use the current user criteria only to show the relevant information. (the users have to be shared to the underlining sheet)
Would that work?
Thanks for your advice but I am afraid a link to the report is not the solution we are looking for.
What if I use Dynamic View in the summary sheet to customize the view for different users and then add it as a web content widget in dashboard? Will that make the dashboard at current user view?
Yes, Dynamic View would work perfectly. (why didn't I think of that).
It will only be the Dynamic View that would filter on the current user.
Let me know if you have questions or if I can help with anything else!
Here's why I didn't think of it. It was just released!

Thanks a lot for sharing! It looks like Dynamic View is the solution we are looking for. May I know if only administrator/ sheet owner will need the license of Dynamic View or each end user accessing the sheet/ dashboard will also need license of Dynamic View?
For example if I have Dynamic View license and create a sheet with customized views to filter current user, then I add it as a web content widget in a dashboard. When any editor/ viewer accessing the dashboard without Dynamic View license, will they be able to see the dashboard in a current user view?
Hope I made my question clear as we need to know how many licenses will be needed for this solution. Thank you!
It's not priced by a user but by how many Dynamic Views you need.
The current user will only work for the Dynamic View in the web content widget, and everything else would be the same and not dynamic.
I'd be happy to have a chat to see what solution would work best and if there might be any workaround that could work. Please email me at andree@workbold.com and well take it from there.
Hope that helps!
I am currently setting up an automation for people to get notified through their email, when they are prompted. But is there a way that they can reply in the email of a comment that will then go to the specific sheet. This way they do not have access to the sheet, but can just comment through email with updates?
Is there a way to revert to the old dashboard look and feel. The new dashboards do not look good at all. There is no way of knowing if there are additional items in the widgets until you scroll over one to learn there is more to it since the vertical bar doesn't show. We have hundreds of dashboards and they will all need…
When i try to send or print the timeline view instead of showing the progression bars like they do on the screen it only send the data entered and not a graph type view to print. Is there a way to do this. I am using a mac platform if that helps.
