Use of the system column to get the modified date

Hello everybody,

I am trying to automate the input of the modification date of a particular cell on my sheet. I figured that since this information is already available in the system column [Modified] - I'd like to take that info to put it into another cell (with Date properties)

You can use the System modified column date as a reference point, but please be aware this date exists to express when ANYTHING on the row has been modified. So if you update text in any cell on the row, it will update that date. Its not focused on a particular column, it looks at the row in its entirety. 

I recommend submitting a product enhancement request.

Depending on the specifics, the third-party service called Zapier could be an excellent option for this scenario. Is that an option for you?
