Multi-Select Formulas
First.....Im so happy the Multi-select feature is now available - so thank you.
This leads me needing some assistance. I have played around with a LOT Of different formulas trying o find a way to capture this information.
I am needing help with trying to find a formula to do a count of selected options that were placed in that field.
I have tried the Countifs formula (as well as a bunch of others0, but it will only count if the item selected was entered by itself and not in conjunction with others. or just gives me errors
Example:
Field 1: EPP, Driver, Faucet
Field 2: EPP, Faucet, Home
Field 3: EPP
Count of EPP only comes to 1 and not 3

Hello,
If you are looking to count how many specific values in a multi-select column contains, this will work:
Soon, we'll release a few new functions that will let you easily search for specific values or counts of specific values in both the multi-select and multi-contact columns, as well as count how many values are in a cell (or range of cells).

Hi Kara,

Hahaha. I may not have gotten quite THAT excited, but I definitely did get excited to read about these functions being able to look at individual entries within multi-select fields. That's going to make A LOT of people very happy.

Hi Samuel,
Which function? What do you want to do?
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@getdone.se)
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic week!

As Kara hinted, the formula COUNTM was added 2019-10-09 and does the counts described in the OP.
Three use cases are described:
a) count elements in a single cell
b) count elements in a range
c) count elements (single cell or range) based on criteria.
As of today (2024-03-20), there is no "COUNTMS", allowing multiple range/criterion, though that would be useful.
Regards,
Craig
