Dropdown: Single Select / Multi Select - Add new items

There are many occasions when the list in the dropdown is not complete. For example you may ask a person what their food preference are and then they add a different response (which is fine).

Vegetarian
Meat
Vegan

If someone writes Vegetarian but Eat Fish

You may want to allow that to be added to the list.

Please may we have a functionality that allows for new items to be added to the list?

This can be done with a checkbox similar to restrict to list items

Under the main box, show the additional responses with a checkbox with the prompt add to dropdown list?

If we can set that up at the start that means that we can remove them later if necessary but it avoids the need to then export and then copy and paste a list afterwards.

So you are wanting to automatically add new options from manual input into the set dropdown list?

As you have realized, this is not currently possible, but it is definitely an excellent idea.

If you have not yet done so, I suggest submitting a Product Enhancement Request.

You can now do this as a workaround in the data uploader.

The way to do this is to update a dropdown field and it adds items from the list.

Not great if you are not going to get data uploader but I am testing this for a project and it is already working well.
