Baseline a project schedule
n Microsoft Project you could 'baseline' your plan and then track against it with the ability to view both baseline and current plan on the Gantt.
I cannot see the same capability in Smartsheets.
Does anyone know how you would do this? I have seen some of the community posts for some workaround ideas but do not see any functionality in Smartsheet.

There is a video out there somewhere (I will see if I can find it and get it on here for you) that basically describes a process where you create your project sheet with the initial dates/dependencies/durations/etc. to include a column that has some sort of row id such as an auto-number type column.
You would then "Save as new..." and rename it as "Baseline - Project Name" or something to that effect.
Then you create a report and reference both sheets. Columns would include Task, Date columns, Sheet Name, and row id.
Sort by the row id and you will have each task basically repeated twice. One row would be the Main Project Sheet and the next row would be the Baseline Project Sheet (or vice versa depending on the actual sheet names). This pattern would follow on down the report for every row. Duplicating each task by pulling it once from each sheet.
You can then show the Gantt chart, and the date bars will be one above the other for each task for Baseline vs Actual.
.
That is pretty much the only way I have been able to find showing both on the same Gantt chart.

HERE is the video. It is close to the 20 minute mark when they start getting into baselining.

FWIW... Unfortunately, it looks like (no baseline Intel at the 20min mark) the above linked video has been replaced by a more updated Webinar.
Thanks for the description above Paul, straightforward and works as described for me!
