Expand filtered rows

When a filter is applied I can only see the parent rows and would like to expand the sections below. Can anyone suggest how I can do this please?

You'd probably need to filter differently.

Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@getdone.se)

What are the four values you have for the Award Status?

Do you always want to show the parents if one of the children match the filter?

For clarity, It's not possible to expand the filtered view, so we will need to create a filter that shows parents and children in the way that you need to.

Ah OK, yes makes sense.

The values under award status are:

Approved

Declined

Approved with Queries

Withdrawn

Awaiting Assessment

We give grants to various organisations, so Id like to be able to filter successful grants from a particular organisation and then be able to expand from there. But if I cant, then yes, creating a better filter sounds like a good plan!

For this I generally will add in a hidden checkbox column then write out two IF statements. One for the children rows that says if it meets "x criteria" (whatever you are trying to filter on), then check the box, then another for the parent rows that says if there are any children checked then check the parent box. I then build my filter off of the new checkbox column.
