Sort function

Hi,

Can anyone help me please - how do you disable/enable sort function in sheets? We have some where you can sort with editor access, and some which you cannot sort with the same access.

Hi Jenny,

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to disable/enable sorting (if you save the order is saved), but it's an excellent idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment to have your vote added

There are some workaround options to make it work.

• Autonumbering or similar to make it easy to go back to the original order
• Use a report instead, so it's sorted when needed

Regarding not being able to sort.

It's probably because there are some locked rows that they are trying to sort.

Although Editors can sort a sheet, they can't sort locked rows. If the Sort Rows option appears unavailable, and you're shared to the sheet with Editor permissions (see Sharing Permission Levels for details), deselect any locked rows before attempting to sort.
