Use parent row only for chart data

I would like to know how to present a data chart in the dashboard using the parent row data only (please see below screenshot).

This is the message I received:

And when I tried collapsing it, the data presentation includes the children row and the chart looks so horrible.

You can toss it into a report and reference the report for the chart
