Is it possible to format column headings?

One of my users would like column headings center aligned and bold. Is it possible to format the column heading? The format applied to the column (alignment, font style) do not change the column head.

I format column headings first, then add data. Inability to format these diminishes the clarity of the document. If the heading is not important, then why not omit it?
