Formatting data in a drop down cell

Please see the image below. Is there any way to remove the shaded background box from the data entered into a cell via a drop down list so that it will appear the same as data typed directly into a cell?

Hi,

Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not possible at the moment, but it's an excellent idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment to have your vote added

A possible workaround, could be to collect the values together in another cell because that would show them as "normal".

Would that work?
