The barcode scanner says there is a apostrophe at the start of the barcode when there isnt.
Barcode scanner says there is a apostrophe at the start of the barcode when there isnt, is there anyway around this? Say the barcode is 2002251145 it reads as '2002251145

Hi Clive,
If any of your barcodes start with a zero, Smartsheet will prepend the value with an apostrophe and store it as text. It does this so that the leading zero will be retained and displayed with the number. (Click here for more information on this).
If you want to remove the ', you could set up a helper column and use the VALUE function (see here) to automatically convert your entries, however this will then remove the zero for those leading with zeros.

Unfortunately i wish this was the case, but i'm also seeing a leading ' when the barcode doesn't start with a 0. Anyone else experienced this?

Has there been an update to this? As I'm scanning 106929 it's coming up with '106929 and there's no 0 in the front.

@Jimrny and @Iain Elliott
What @Genevieve P. is saying is it does it for every set of numbers whether it begins with a zero or not.
It doesn't change formatting/data type just every time there is a zero at the start of the barcode.
They will never update because if a barcode is 000010 will become 10 when converted to a value thus ruining the uniqueness of your barcode.
