Free Users

Hello, We have a new business account (I am administrator) and are setting up plans to run a number of joint projects with other institutions. What is the best way to set up free users so that they can be sent automated reminder emails for the tasks they are allocated? I am a little unsure of the difference between contacts and users and would prefer that the external users did not not need to have to login to Smartsheet, we have regular progress video calls where I just share plans on my screen, the intention it use Publish to give visibility. Thank you.

If you add the free users' emails to a contact type column, you can set up the Update Request to send to the contact in that column. The user will then receive an email with a link to the Update Request form which they can then fill out and submit without having to log on or even access the sheet at all.

To add to Pauls excellent suggestion. Make sure the automation permissions are set to allow to unrestricted.
