How to share data with external users and allow some editing
Hi, I'd like to share a sheet with an external user, and allow them to edit update one column only.
If I produce a report, then that will mean they would have to have access to the underlying sheet, which will contain information I don't want them to see.
My plan is to set up a sheet which links to my main sheet, which only features the information that I'm comfortable sharing. Then, publish that sheet using 'Edit by Anyone'. Then I can give 'editor-level permissions' to the person I want to be able to edit that one column, so it is secure to them only.
Would that linked sheet need to be in its own workspace, or could it be set up in the same workspace as the source sheet?
Will my plan work?

Update: That didn't work v well. 'Update by Anyone' means just that - anyone who has the link can edit it. However, I've made some progress by moving the sheet to it's own workspace, and sharing that workspace to users. I'm doing some testing now, but would appreciate some validation from the community.

Hi Lisa,
A solution that would be perfect for this use-case is the premium add-on, Dynamic View. Is that an option?

Would that work?
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Oh I wish! How much I wish. I'm afraid not, I'm on an Enterprise Plan, and saving my upgrade requests for when 10,000 ft comes out.

Ok.
Another possible workaround, could be to have a separate sheet and have that cell-linked or use a cross-sheet formula structure to the main sheet.
Would that work/help?
