Limit on row number when importing from Excel file

If SmartSheet only imports (by default, without data uploader) the first sheet from the excel file anyways, why would it check the row count of all sheets in the excel file?

I have an multi-tabbed Excel workbook, which include some sheets exceeding 20000 row limit. The first sheet though is very well within that limit. SmartSheet Import still would fail with error message that the Excel file includes at least one sheet exceeding 20000 row limit.

If the default "Import" feature only imports (without letting user to choose which) the very first sheet, why does it check row counts on other sheets in the Excel file?
