Formula: Start date + 1/2... days
Hello community,
I am trying to add a formula for the following:
The date in red is the start date (DATE1). The dates below should be programmed like DATE1 + 1day, DATE1 +2days etc. I tried different formulas I found in the Learning Center but for some reason it didn't work...
Thank you for your help!
Elizabeth

Hi @Elizabeth
It's not working because you can't use formulas in the date columns you've specified in the project settings when Dependencies are enabled.
Make sense?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Yep. That would be it. You have your dependencies turned on, and formulas can't be used in those columns.

You should be able to use
=Date1 + 1
Then dragfill down.

Thank you for your quick reply!
Hmm for some reason that didn't work... I thought it is because I have two dates in one row (start and end date) so I changed the formula like this: =[Start Date]158 +1 but it still doesn't work (158 = row number).
Any idea why that is?

make sure you're column properties are set to "date" rather than "text/number"
I input 3/8/20 for row 1 of both "start date" and "end date".
Start date column is using "date" properties.
formula for 2nd row: =[Start Date]1 + 1
next: =[Start Date]1 + 15
then: =[Start Date]1 + 60
finally: =[Start Date]1 + 90
The column properties are "text/number" for "End Date" and I used the same formula style then you can see that it's a jumbled mess of nothing useful.

My first thought would be checking to ensure the column is in fact a date type column. If that doesn't fix it, what exactly do you mean by it isn't working? Are you getting an error or an unexpected result?

I tried out the formulas above in a new test sheet and there it works perfectly fine. I think for some reason it doesn't recognize the formula in my main sheet, when I type it in it just stays in there as text:
This even though the column type is set to date.
Any idea what I am doing wrong here?
