Inventory - Add OTY and substract OTY with Barcode scanner

Dear SS Team,

since i am still quite new, i need your help. I would like to manage our inventory with smartsheet, I would like to do it with the barcode scanner. how can I create a form that adds / subtracts from the inventory and then returns to the current inventory qty. that should work the next time you enter other vlues(oty) as well. A sample sheet/form would be vary helpfull. Many thanks in advance.

This can be done with a two sheet solution. The first sheet being a list of you SKU numbers and on hand inventory. The second sheet would be an intake sheet that uses a form to collect the SKU number by using the mobile app and the barcode reader. the user would select if the inventory is incoming or outgoing and scan the barcode then enter the qty.

I just try it yesterday, it took me some time to change (and understand) the forumlar, but finaly it works. thanks so far.

But what happen when the Intake sheet is full, i hear there will be a limit of rows?

And a other question, is it possible to show the name of the scanned item at the form?

Glad you got it working!

The limit is 20 000 rows. When do you think you will hit the limit?

The way to show the name in the form would be to create URL links for each item with a URL-query that pre-fills some information like the name.

Regarding the rows , i believe we will need less then 6 month to arrive that limit. Any advice how continue then would be helpfull.

Dear All,

the two sheets works a while but now no more, asa i can see if i scan a barcode it will apers always a apostrophe in front of the nummber, could be that the problem?

Yes, that is probably the issue. It's read as text because of it.

Hello All,

Thank you for all of these very helpful posts. I'm new to smartsheets as well and working on setting up an inventory system for my company. I'm struggling a bit with the formulas here and was hoping someone could help.

I'd like the warehouse inventory sheet to add up all matching SKU's on the Warehouse inventory transfer page.

If you see where I went wrong and could point me in the right direction I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you all! -James
