We Need Custom Views - Sheet Level
I have seen similar requests in the community discussions, but they all seem to have very detailed needs, and would require a very tailored solution. I believe a lot of users, in general, would benefit GREATLY with a simple "custom view" option on the sheet level. Nothing special, just a simple way to view and save different sets of column views. No rearranging, no filtering, no conditional formatting, just different column views (although these would be a nice add-on in future releases but one step at a time).
This would help teams with large spreadsheets, with multiple users working on different parts of the spreadsheet, the ability to recall hidden/unhidden columns they need, quickly and easily without affecting other team members, and still benefit from the use of hierachy, notifications, and alerts.
If you agree, please reply, and +1 this post.

Agreed, but not just columns: rows, too.
For instance, it is useful to be able to get to a "high level view" (top level parents open only, showing their children, but no further) quickly. At present, I have to "Collapse all", then open each top level parent in turn: not a huge problem, but it would be good to be able to save a "high level view" an go straight to it in furture.

Completely agree, the ability to save column and row views would help organize my team's workflow better. I'm actually really surprised that this isn't an included feature already.

Is this function available in any way?
I'm trying to figure out how I can set up views to facilitate data entry on a sheet, so that users only see the columns that pertain to them (or their current task). I have to assume there's something that will allow me to do that, but I'm not finding it.

This is what I came up with after X-Sheet References were released.

I'm still not completely happy with it, but it works for some use cases.
