Dependencies and Predecessors

I am brand new to using Smartsheets and need help on creating multiple date dependencies.  I want to track a myriad of tasks over time, ultimately based on a final event date.  Each task has a different due date in realtionship to the final event date, and would thus have a different start date.  The tracking document also has predecessors.  How do I properly set up the dependencies to accomplish this?

First, make sure you have two Date type columns in your sheet.

 

Go to the Gantt view and find the little gear symbol - that is the Project Settings.

 

In Project Settings, enable Dependencies.

This will add the Predecessor column if it doesn't already exist.

 

Your dependencies are built in the Predecessors column.
