Bringing back values from another sheet
Hi all,
Is is possible to bring back all the values from a column in a different smartsheet to a sheet I'm working on without "looking up a value" like you would i.e. using a vlookup formula?
Thanks,
Carlos

As new rows are added, autofill should grab the formula and pull it into the new rows.

Hi @Stefan ,
Thank you for sharing this. I think this does help and bring me closer, but doesn't seem to allow me to account for new cells/rows that may be added to the sheet I'm linking from. Is there a way to do that?
I have multiple sheets that I need it to feed my main sheet. Is that possible?
Thanks again,
Carlos

If @Stefan's solution of cell linking isn't what you are looking for, can you provide more details and possibly some screenshots that has data manually entered to reflect what exactly you are trying to accomplish?

I have several different sheets (owned by others) that have different sets of data. I need to create one sheet that will link in the data in those other sheets. The caviat is that I need to be able to map the data to specific columns in my master sheet.
For example -
Sheet 1 - Has a column called 'Project Name'
Sheet 2 - Has a column called 'Summary'
Master - I need to bring the data that is both of these columns to a column on the 'master' sheet called 'Project'. I also need to be sure that as new items get added to Sheet 1 or Sheet 2 that Master will reflect that.
-
Do you need the Project Name and Summary combined into a single cell? Are they referencing the same project? What is the end goal for this data collection?
-
Project name and Summary are each columns on separate sheets that contain cells of data underneath. I need to bring all those cells (and anything new that is added) to the 'master' column called Project on my sheet.
-
But would the first row of the [Project Name] column need to be combined with the first row of the Summary column?
Can you provide a manually entered example of the desired outcome?
-
Does this help to visualize it?
I also want to ensure that as items get added, they will automatically feed into my sheet.
-
What is the end goal for this data collection?
-
To be able to standardize and bring in one view of the different data (projects) being stored on different sheets by different owners who aren't always consistent in their approach for formatting, etc.
-
I would create a hidden column that is named the same on each sheet and use a basic cell reference to pull the desired data into this column. Then you can build a report referencing the sheets and display this hidden column. Since the hidden column will be named the same across all sheets, it will display everything in the same column.
-
Hmm, that could work! If I use the basic cell reference, is there a way to bring back everything in that column (as new things get added) vs. just what has data?
-
As new rows are added, autofill should grab the formula and pull it into the new rows.
