calculating changes to duration value

I need to build a formula to calculate changes to the default duration value within our master timeline template.  

 

Ideally, I need to the function to notice a change to the default value and calucuate the increase or decrease.  Any suggestions on the approach for this?

Since you have a default value, just write an <if (value of cell not equal to X, then "not default value", " ")) and dump that into a hidden column.  Have conditional formatting look at the results of that column and then format the cell that holds the defualt value as red or something similar.
