is there any update on getting VBA into Smart Sheet?

You can utilize vba to work with smartsheet in some ways, but they probably aren't going to host it on their servers. An example of this I developed in the past to open a smartsheet webform, fill it out, and submit it in the background is below:

You can use Ruby, Jnode, Python, or a couple other coding languages to interact with the API, and they have a decent training resource on how to do this if you google it.

what i am trying to do is in collumn A i have a part number, and in collumn B i want to assign this to a specific person from a list. In Excell i did a maco where it put a vlookup in a cell from another sheet and then wrote in another cell the persons name. i had to do it this way because the people's names change. I could put a Vlookup in Smart Sheet to pull the currect persons name. i could do a copy manally and past as value, But trying to do it as push a button, or maco, and it does it for me.

you could give zapier a try. It is free under a certain amount of workflows.

Another way to make it work could be to trigger it by using a checkbox instead? (maybe in combination with Zapier if needed)
