Update Requests - Displaying (via Reports or Dashboard)
Does anyone know if there's a way to Display Pending Update Requests? We're using a lot of automation to send out Update Requests to team members, and I'm concerned that they're going to get lost in emails. It would be great if I could build a report, dashboard, etc. that showed all the Pending Update Requests.

Hi @Mike Rini
One idea I had would be to trigger an Approval Request simultaneously with each Update Request and then change the status through an Update of a specific field from the Update Request.
You could then filter and show them in a Dashboard.
Make sense?
What do you think?

Conceptually, makes sense. Are you saying have someone manually update the Status in the Update Request?

No, not manually. It should be a value that is always getting updated from the Update Request.

It does, I just didn't think SmartSheets had the capability to update a status based on an Update Request. That was something I was looking into a couple months ago, but it didn't exist. Does it now?

Excellent!
The update request can update almost anything depending on permissions, locked columns, formulas in cells, and a few other situations.
In your use-case with changing a status, it should work.

Awesome, so let me ask this question so I don't have to fumble around with it for 2hrs. Let's say our Status says "Sent To Account" when the Update Request goes out. When Account submits the Update Request, what would trigger mechanism to update the Status? I assume I can look at the fields filled in as changed, but am not sure as to how I change the Status field from "Sent To Account" to "Account Submitted" (in our case).

They would need to change the Status value manually (in the update request) to show that it's updated.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was working on this last week and was struggling to figure out how it change it automatically. Can you also clarify how I'd be able to show a list of open Update Requests on either a report or Dashboard? Above you mentioned a combination of Update Requests/Approvals - I'm familiar with using both, but still not totally clear on how to show what's approved/updated in either a Dashboard or Report format

i need to see and find all the pending "update requests"... they are to-dos
and is there a way to send them again if it's not done after a few days?
