How to perform trend analysis on symbols
I have a sheet where I have two columns that show status (current and previous). These are represented by the colored dots (Red, Yellow, Green, Gray). I am trying to show tend on these status items with the following logic:
=IF([Trend - Last Report status]1 = [Overall Status]1, "Sideways", IF([Trend - Last Report status]1 < [Overall Status]1 "Up", "Down"), "")
Is this possible when using symbols or will I need to build IF logic to perform text matching i.e.
=IF([Trend - Last Report status]1 = [Overall Status]1, "Sideways", IF([Trend - Last Report status]1 = "Red", IF( [Overall Status]1 = "Yellow", "Up", ....... and so on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Ed Sheaf
You will need to build the IF logic formula because Smartsheet doesn't know what it should consider is more or less for Symbols.
Make sense?
I hope that helps!

Hi Andree,
I suspected this would be the case. I decided to build a grid sheet that determined hierarchy of symbols in relation to their row position.
=INDEX([Symbol Measurement]7:[Symbol Measurement]10, MATCH(Symbol20, Symbol$7:Symbol$10, 0)) - INDEX([Symbol Measurement]7:[Symbol Measurement]10, MATCH(Symbol21, Symbol$7:Symbol$10, 0))
And then checked to see if value had gone up or down.
Thanks for you help.
Cheers,
Ed
