Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment, but it's an excellent idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment

As a possible workaround, you could use a 3rd party service or the Smartsheet API.

Is that an option?

Would like to second this....actually currently use a 3rd party to have the ability to customize emails in HTML - would love to use smartsheet for this though...when something goes wrong, it is much harder to figure out where the problem is when multiple parties are involved.

What is Smartsheet API?
