Form Logic beyond field visibility

Hi: I would like a form to respond based on a user's response to either display a set of fields or terminate. For example, if a person answers 'Yes' to a particular field, the form then does not display any additional fields or has the ability to submit the form. I would like to display only a message advising the person that they are not eligible to complete the form.

Is there any way to get this to work?

Ok. That makes sense.

I'd recommend creating a so-called helper sheet and have the forms submitted there, and if it's an approved form, you will use automation to move the row to the main sheet.

You can use required fields so it isn't possible to submit the form combined with a message.

Hi Andree: I don't think that would be helpful. Here is a simplified scenario:

Are you a student?

No: Display set of fields and submit button

Yes: Display message for student that this form is not appropriate for them to fill out and disable submit button.

Yes: Display a field/column with a message, and it would be required, so it won't be possible to submit.

Hi Andree: I apologize if I am missing something that appears to be so simple. :-)

I have created a helper column called 'Advisory'.

If Student = Yes, I display the Advisory field on the form. It is set to Required. I have populated the Help Text with guidance information.

If I populate the field itself by adding content to the Default Value, the user is able to submit the form. If I don't populate the field, the user can populate the field themselves and still submit the form.

Can you clarify a) What type of column should the helper column be? I have mine set to text. b) How to add the field to my form so that when it displays, it cannot be populated and prevents the form from being submitted.

You're not missing anything.

The message should say something that they can't submit, and if they do, nothing will happen.

You could even set up an automation to move it out of the sheet or similar.

Would that work/help, or do you have to lock the possibility to submit completely?

I would prefer to lock the possibility to submit completely as there is a request ID automatically assigned to each row and I don't want to have to account for gaps in the assignments. Ideas?
