Auto Populate cellc based on another sheet for repetitive tasks

Hi There, I want to create a user onboarding and a user offboarding sheet based on a form that we have created for HR to fill in. The form contains the persons name, personel number, who that person reported to ,what role the person has/had and date of employment or termination. Based on what option is selected "Onboarding" or "Offboarding" secondary sheets need to be populated with a list of tasks that need to be ticked off for each of the entries on the HR form. I want to know how I can populate the sheets based on the above mentioned.

    Hi @Edward Basson

Hope you are fine, you can do that by using the nested If function if you like, please supply a screenshot for the second sheet you need to fill the list of tasks that need to be ticked off for each of the entries ( remove any sensitive data ) and i will help you to do it.

  • Because the sheet is so wide I took 3 Screenshots. You will notice the line in orange, this is a copy and paste from the HR form. What I would like to see happen is the column's labeled "Description, links, or instructions" be populated every time a new entry occurs in the HR form particularly when the "Onboarding" drop down is selected. Bare in mind there is a "Employee Offboarding" Sheet that will need be populated in a similar manner.

    Hi @Edward Basson

I'd recommend using cross-sheet formulas, VLOOKUP, or INDEX/MATCH and manually add the Ticket number sequence to the structure in the other sheet.

    Something like.

    Main Sheet

    Ticket 1

    Ticket 2

    Ticket 3

    Second Sheet

Ticket 1 - Parent (You'd only have to add the Ticket ID to the parent)

    Ticket 1 -Child 1

    Ticket 1 -Child 2

    Ticket 1 -Child 3

    Make sense?

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Have a fantastic week & Happy Holidays!
