Returning text value based on a date in another field

Community, can you please help - I want to display a text value in a field based on the date held in another field - I thought this could be done with an IF statement to return text based on < or > a date but am struggling - ideas? Many thanks

Don't worry, I've now worked it out using DATE(yyyy,mm,dd) instead of date text in IF formula!
