new summary fields not able to be added

I added a new summary field to a sheet so I could include it on a dashboard, but when I go to add a metric widget to the existing dashboard the new summary field does not appear. I have tried pointing to a different sheet, logging off smartsheet, and even verifying that I added the summary field. Is there a refresh that I am missing. When I go to add the metric it does show 'loading' when I select the sheet.

Make sure that you select that it's a summary metric in the widget.

Thanks again Andree. Upon further review it was my error. I was looking at the bottom of the list of summary fields and the one I was looking for was at the top of the list. I promise I will get better at this.

You can set this option when your'e selecting the metric widget. You'll see a data type here. Switch it to Sheet Summary Data.
