Question of automation "when rows are added" criteria

Dear All,

I am new to smartsheet, and trying to set up some automations, to alert someone when a new row/ action is added.

I am not sure the exact definition of "when a row is added" , it seems that I really need to insert a new row in order to fulfil this criteria.

for example, if I make use of a blank existing row and fill in new information, it will NOT be treated it as "new row";

is my understanding correct?

Hope you are fine, you can design the automation to trigger depending on adding or changing or both using one or more cell from the row and adding also some condition to make it more specified please read the following article and it will help you to understand how to do that:

To add to Bassam's excellent advice/answer.

If the blank row you're adding the information to hasn't been "activated" (used before, something was added to the row previously), then it will count as a new row.

Make sense?

I think it better to really insert a new row if I want to use this trigger, or as Bassam said, to add more conditions for the trigger.
